Velvet and Chinoiserie

I can't imagine that there is a more delicious combination than velvet and Chinoiserie. I have a wonderful club chair in my living room in need of reupholstering. I have a vision of it in a sumptuous velvet in a soft, unusual color like a lavender or gray perhaps.

I adore mohair velvet, but my chair needs about 8 or 9 yards and this would get awfully pricey. I love silk velvet, but probably not the best choice for my favorite reading chair. Cotton or linen velvets are great choices. I did a bit of skulking on eBay last night, and will head out today to some fabric haunts. Do any of you have any favorite velvets?
