Yes, we all love Scalamandre's Zebras wallpaper and fabric but some of us have mortgages and college tuitions, right? Enter the uber-talented Danika of O'verlays and Gorgeous Shiny Things. You can get her take on frollicking zebras starting at $17.50 a yard for fabric and $60 a roll for wallpaper at her Spoonflower store here. (Scalamandre runs about $150 a yard or roll). Above is Dwell Studio for Robert Allen Ming Dragon, in homage (how's that for a nice spin) to Schumacher's iconic, beloved, and very expensive Chiang Mai Dragon shown below. This brass limited edition crocodile from Jonathan Adler pictured below was $2,500. I loved it, but not at that price. The other day my daughter and I were shopping at Z Gallerie and I spotted this gold alligator for $49.95 plus 20% off with my Z Gallerie credit card. He is right at home in my living room bookcase. These bookends are also available in silver. At 24 inches, he is very dramatic and very Palm Beach Chic/Hollywood Regency. He would also be fabulous on a cocktail table or a desk.

 I am crazy about using navy Greek key to trim curtains. Black or gray is also gorgeous. The best tip is that it can be easily sewn on by you or your dry cleaners to inexpensive ready made curtains to make them look incredibly expensive. One of my favorite tricks is the Ikea Aina in linen for $49.99 available in white, natural, gray, and pink. I used these in pink and trimmed them in navy Greek key for a client and they came out gorgeous - a very high end look. Keep your eyes open for Greek key trim on sale too - I just bought a zillion yards of Greek key trim at my local Jo- Ann's for $1.5O a yard. Tomorrow I will do a post on sourcing Greek key trim.
